It is very recently that I have heard about these short term braces, braces that can be removed after 6 months. But them what is different about these braces. Are they bigger than the normal braces or something.? Sorry if my questions are stupid, but I actually have no idea how it corrects teeth within 6 months.

the difference could be that the long term ones, usually 1 year + are the metal bracket ones, where as the short term 6 month 'braces' is the invisalign type. The invisalign is made in the labs. They are clear and look like invisible braces, however, it can only be used for simple cases, like when only a few of your teeth are out of alignment. It makes sense that simple procedures take shorter time periods, thus 'short term' treatment.

Six month braces are actually braces itself, but of a different kind and no they aren't bigger than original braces. But the problem is that it will not work for everybody. Only some cases for crooked or out-of-sync teeth can be corrected using six months braces not all. Only the front six to eight teeth are changed. Because the objective is limited the time span to achieve a more esthetic smile is very short. Metal orthodontic braces are normally placed however, if preferred we can use ceramic or white brackets instead of the metal ones. Many clinics use this method now So if you have change only the teeths that show and not bother about the rest, then it is a good idea.
