Crying at weddings

I just don't understand,i am curious. Marriage is a thing of joy but why the tears then,does it imply anything.I'd like to know Did you cry on your wedding day,if not why?

In India a bride cries at the wedding because she has to leave her home and family and she has to go to her husband's home . It is a very emotional moment for her , a mix feeling of happiness and sorrow :)

@leala and @cupkitties it really beats me as they do it like you are onto a journey of no return. Amidst all the fanfare and lavishness, one can still weep. tears of joy rather than just the joy. thanks for your comments
