The porcelain doll can bring back childhood memories to many. My sister Barbara has a collection that was passed on to her from our mother and grandmother. These items are quite sentimental as both of them are deceased. My sister Barbara remembers going to grandma's house and seeing her somewhat large doll collection, which many of them were made of porcelain. My mother also had a collection as well, but it wasn't as large as grandmas. My sister was given both collections many years ago and still treasures them until this day. She has also extended her collection by buying more and gifts from others. She makes my holiday shopping easier, because I always know what to get her. My sister does tell me that this is the whole reason on how she started out with her doll collection. The dolls she had received when she was younger and each does she still buys or gets from gifts will always have some sort of memory attached to them. I'm sure there are many of you out there that can share a similar story. My girlfriend does not have a doll collection, but I think that I am going to buy her a doll for Valentine's Day. This can be the start of certain memories we have together and have our own story for each one in our collection. I also like the idea that there is no age barrier on doing this. Whether you're young or old, you can always start some type of collection and have your own stories to attach to them. I'm going to get married soon, so if I start a doll collection for my girlfriend, she can continue building on it. Then down the road, we can share stories about it, such as, do you remember this doll, it was one we had before we got married! I also this that a doll can be a great gift for any occasion, so I think I'm going to help build up a collection for my girlfriend. I really don't like going out shopping, but I can buy collectible porcelain dolls online in the comforts of my own home, especially the deals I have found!
