Is glaucoma inherited

If parents have glaucoma will the children have it too, like in the case of diabetics which is inherited?

Yes, a tendency to develop glaucoma is definitely genetic. A history of glaucoma in the family makes it far more likely that offspring may suffer from it.

There are chances. Studies have proved that people whose parents suffer from glaucoma and diabetics have a higher chance of being affected bu the disease. So it is advisable that people with these risk factors should have their eyes examined on a regular basis to look for the disease. But there are treatments for these diseases now So people with glaucoma are not at risk of blindness now.
