What IS the Purpose of Learning?

If not 'scoring high on tests,' then what?

My cousin--a teacher--posted this pic to her FB. I think it says 'the purpose of learning is MISUNDERSTOOD if it's thought to be "to score well on tests".' What IS the purpose of learning, then? I think the paper tests are just tools to see how well the students study AND -the teachers teach. I'm seeing the teacher & the student as 'members of a learning team'---it's not "teacher vs. students," she's not trying to outwit- or do better than-the students. It's like when I write a symphony, and I 'synthesize' the music so I can 'hear what it sounds like'---I'm testing the whole process, and if something sounds wrong than I 'grade' those sound-makers AND the notes I gave them to play. I look at 'learning' as a form of 'mountain-climbing.' Why do we climb the mountains? Because they're there. 'Schooling' (different from 'education' http://adf.ly/FHYgk - 'SKIP AD' on the AdFly page, & find the story on Henry Ford's court-case) is just what you do to prove you're an "obedient worker"---according to comedian George Carlin. 'Learning' is the common form of 'obedience' practiced there. Thus it's purpose is to be used as a tool once they finish 'schooling' you and it's time to 'educe!' yeah?

I noticed there is a strong bond in between student and teacher. I must say student may not follow parents instructions but when there is teacher, then always followed in a proper manner.

Completely agree. Learning and Teaching are the key features with the strong bond. It should be maintained for the well being of student future and qualities. Learning to be done in an entertainment ways, rather the learner get bored.
