The status of parents in Islam

Islam teaches us to love and respect our parents and not to show even the slightest contempt towards them - even if they are non-believers (that is, even if they do not believe in the One True God, which in Arabic is translated as Allah).
In the Qur'an,verse 23 of chapter 17, God Almighty has placed the command of good treatment towards ones parents, second only to His worship alone. This shows the importance of respecting and loving one's parents.

Couldn't agree more, respect your parents and treat every one the same way you'd like to be treated, the world would be such a happy place in harmony.
