I'm a writer of short fiction and I'm looking for different markets to submit my work. I don't want to be famous.I'm mostly doing it out of borden and my free time. Do any of you have any suggestions on what I should do?

I started writing for myself. No I wasn't into poetry or anything like that. But I liked writing short stories and even wrote some that one family friend even cussed(in happy surprise) by the ending.
I would really suggest refining the material that you have. One technique I use is to read it out loud. This allows me to feel the actions of the characters or the story line and see if it "feels" realistic. Even fantasy has to be lifelike someplace. The characters tend to show themselves, their personalities will tell you if its the right thing for them to say or to do. Man or woman that person will talk to you and guide you through what needs to happen to them in order to get to "their ending".
If you want to work for money, try looking at magazines you want to write for and submit some things for them to use for free. If they like you and your work gets responses then you can begin talking money.
The world of writing is not easily broken into and you have to be persistent and take the good with the bad and learn from it. You may not earn a mint from your free time, but you can turn a pretty penny if you know how to learn and work.
Good Luck

Travel around your country or the world. Even hang out for shopping can help. Meet some girls, you know.
