History will show that many do and die for a cause. Religion being one of them. Look at the crusades, were they not asking people to die for a religion. So in the muslim world and their jihads. These of course are extreme examples of religion gone amuck...but it does happen. I would much prefer people die for a cause because of persecution reasons...that at least in a sense is a dignified and honorable thing to do, for what one believes. No I would not die for my religion, but I would for my convictions in a pacifist way.

Good comment! I totally agree! I also wanted to add, don't forget about the Inquisition. The puritans pursecuting men and women calling them witches.

First of all i think that religion is a bunch of crap. If people want to believe in god then that is fine with me, but as soon as they start forming religions about it, that is when the problems arise. If everyone would just keep their beliefs to themselves then society could focus on more important things and politics wouldn't be so controversial. All religion is made up by humans who think that they are right and want to prove it by having the most followers, and they eliminate the competition. Modern religion is just another corporation. It is one of the biggest money makers in the world. People think they are donating money to "god" when in fact it is going to the people who run the religion. That is no different then the way that businesses work. The CEO gets all the money and the workers get only slight happiness. I wouldn't kill anyone for any reason, especially for a religion.

Good answer! People say money is the root of all evil. I don't believe this. I believe religion is the root of all evil.

I don't think any true religion would expect someone to give up their life for it....life is a gift and should cherished...if a religion encourages its flock to die for it then they are ordinary mans writings....

No. I don't really have a religion. And if I did, it certianly wouldn't be one that would want me to kill for it.

No, I dont think so. My religion is not violent. Why would you want to kill for your religion when they wont do much for the people.

I agree... There's no religion on earth that tells you to kill yourself or others, and if some people interpret them that way, then they need some serious help.

I can't think of scenerio when I'd be asked to do either, but I agree with what others say here, my religion never asks that I kill anyone. I don't know why I'd need to die for my religious beliefs, but yes I would if I needed to. I'd not kill under any circumstances.

Die for it? I'm not sure. Kill for it? No. The first Commandment says, thou shalt not kill. Any religion that tells me differently is misleading me.

I would deem it gain were I to lose my life for Christ.
I have killed for my country but not for my Lord. Fortunately, by the grace of God, I have been forgiven of that and all my sins.
He teaches that we love our God with all our heart, mind, and soul. In addition, He teaches that we are to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Since we are created in the image of our God, that eliminates the concept of killing, or even harming anyone.

I am a Christian and would die if I had to, but my God is a loving God and would never ask me to kill. Killing is wrong!
