Lamenting the incessant killings and destruction of property by the terrorists in spite of military presence in the areas, the NGF advised the Federal Government to wholly review the present strategies used in fighting terrorists. This, according to them had become necessary as the present methods were no longer productive. “We believe the time has come for the Federal Government to comprehensively review the strategies with which it is fighting this insurgency, said a statement signed by NGF Chairman and Rivers Governor, Rotimi Amaechi. “The current approach is definitely not working and it is important that all of us are humble and sincere enough to accept this reality and then work out a stronger and more workable strategy. The governors further noted that it was a very difficult time for Nigeria, calling on all citizens to support the families of the students who were slaughtered. “Those aggrieved must realise that violence can never be a solution to the nation’s problems,” they added.
