My friend has written a book and would like to know how to go about getting it copyrighted and published. Anyone know how to go about it?

I have been publishing at lulu.com I am a translator of the Word of God from Greek to English. I have already published GENESIS, EXODUS, LEVITICUS (Greek-English), THE WILL New Testament (Greek to English), ELEMENTS of SALVATION, The Right Way, GOD, ORIGIN, TRANSFER into PERFECTION, GREEK-ENGLISH (Grammar & Vocabulary), WORDS in THE WILL New Testament, and others shown at http://www.lulu.com/arseniajoaquin I have not spent even a single cent in publishing these. There are no set up fees. Authors are not even required to buy even a single copy of their books. In fact I have not seen any copy of any of my books as I have no money and I don't even have any credit card. Lulu does not interfer with the content. Write anything you want too. Choose the size there, book cover, you're free to set your royalty, etc. Copyright is automatically included there.

I am self-published using lulu.com I have some books there at the website provided by lulu for authors. It's very easy to follow instructions. Copyright is automatic. I hope that you and your friend would be able to publish there also.

If you are in the US, it can be copyrighted by dowloading the appropriate form from the US Copyrights page and paying the fee. A copy of the manuscript will have to be sent with the book. There are various ways to self-publish, all depending on how much money you have to spend and what your goals are. If you're publishing just to see your book in print and have a few copies for friends & family, then POD is your best bet, so try Lulu or Lightning Source. If you are serious, have a few thousand and want to try to turn a profit you need to setup a business for your publishing company and bid the job out to offset printers. There are several great discussion groups online regarding self-publishing, with the best being the Yahoo Slef-Publishing group. If your friend doesn't want to put any effort into, there is always the long route of sending out queries to agents. IF she/he gets an agent, then the agent would try to sell it.
