The Perfect Pear
I bring you…the perfect pear!
Apples and Pears, cockney slang for stairs and two great English fruits. Although apples are common in many people’s diet, the pear is often forgotten, with most of us consuming more pear drops than we do actual pears!
This is a real shame as pears are actually heaving with nutrients and vitamins with great benefits.
-Contains anti-oxidant and anti-carcinogenic glutathione which helps prevent high blood pressure and strokes. An article by the American Heart Association in 2011 stated that eating one pear a day can reduce your risk of a stroke by up to 52%!
-Contains high levels of fructose and glucose, making pears a great source of quick, natural energy.
-Contains high content of pectin, which can lower cholesterol.
-Contains 24% of your recommended daily allowance of fibre. Fibre is crucial to a healthy diet as it helps sustain blood sugar levels and promotes regularity.
-Contains flavonoids that can lower your risk of heart disease and death associated with heart disease.
-Contains notable levels of potassium and vitamin C, helping to keep muscles strong and boosting the immune system.
