Things to Consider in Promoting a Healthy Lifestyle

There is an entire industry related to what is and is not healthy. Just watch a little television and you'll quickly see a commercial for special food designed to lose weight, a special cardio workout, or a magic pill or dietary supplement that will help you lose weight and feel better without changing your diet or exercise. The truth is, healthy living doesn't include a number on a scale. There are dietary, physical and mental considerations that all work together to promote healthy living. The mental state of mind for a person is probably the first and most important element to healthy living. If a person does not have the proper frame of mind, or a desire to evaluate their life choices like diet, exercise, recreational habits, etc., then there is no sense in going any further. It is crucial that a person have a legitimate desire to live a more healthy life. One could probably make some temporary changes, but there is no way to sustain a healthy lifestyle without this mental conditioning. Once in the proper frame of mind, it's important to first evaluate what one puts into their body. The diet is the first thing we think of when it comes to this, but it also includes dietary supplements, drugs (both recreational and medically essential,) liquids, etc. Do your research on how many calories you should consume for your body type. Make sure you are eliminating a majority of refined sugar from your diet. Don't completely eliminate any category of foods however. This is not sustainable. Your body does need carbohydrates, protein, starches, etc. Just make certain your intake is well balanced. Once the diet is properly balanced, you will begin to feel a significant difference. Try to drink between 48-64 ounces of water each day. This has more of an impact than most people realize. Water is a very cleansing liquid, and vital to healthy living. It helps increase metabolism and cleanse toxins from the body. Make this a top priority for detoxification and add it in to continue your healthy lifestyle. Finally, add in at least light exercise three or more times weekly. If you are seeking to lose weight, you need to increase your cardio, as well as the amount of time and frequency you spend exercising. But to maintain a healthy lifestyle, you need to be active at least three times a week. This could be neighborhood walking, bike riding, jogging, etc. With this light exercise, balanced diet and proper mental attitude, you will feel and appear much happier and healthier.
