The HCG diet has been around a while now and there are plenty of people who are converted and many who are still on the fence. The HCG Diet is a 500 calorie diet that includes a daily injection of HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin). But since the diet's introduction drops and sprays have become available for those who don't want to go to a clinic or inject themselves. People who complete the diet see a dramatic loss of weight sometimes up to a pound a day, so we know it can be an effective weight loss program. But there are some misconceptions about the HCG Diet Plan Program that this article covers in order to create a balanced view when making a decision to commit. Misconception #1: The weight can't be kept off Firstly you CAN lose weight on this diet but critics have sighted that you can't keep it off. Not true! The 3rd phase is a stabilization phase. This is where you gradually change from a very low calorie diet to a higher one. On the program you are limited about the amount of exercise you should do, so instead of high intensity workouts you switch to a moderate program such as walking, light cycling etc. Therefore during the stabilization phase as you increase your calories you should be increasing your exercise intensity: remember calories in = calories out when it comes to exercise. This means you can keep the weight off providing you increase your exercise along with it. Misconception #2: You lose muscle whilst on the diet If you are taking the HCG injections then this will prevent you from losing muscle during the diet. Your hormone levels are lifted and it creates muscle building. The HCG hormone counters muscle breakdown which is good news, because during rapid weight loss one of the biggest problems is losing muscle. However with muscle being protected by the hormone you are losing pure fat and becoming leaner rather than dealing with poor body shape due to fat and muscle loss. Misconception #3: You will feel constantly hungry Critics believe that because you are only taking in 500 calories during the maintenance phase of the program that you will feel hungry all the time. This is actually not true because HCG reduces hunger. People who have completed the program have advised that they didn't feel hungry and this allowed them to manage the 500 calories. Typically if you were to reduce down to 500 calories normally you would feel like you are starving all the time however the hormone actually reduces your appetite. So does this diet work for weight loss? The answer is yes and there are other benefits that come with this diet compared to other diets in the market place. As with all diets you should choose the one that is right for you and your daily lifestyle. If you want to maintain a high intensity exercise program then this program isn't for you. However, if you want a diet that drops pure fat and won't leave you hungry then this might the program for you.
