For one, sushi is very different from what Americans eat from day to day. The third reason sushi has become popular among Americans is that it’s seen as trendy, cultural, the "in" thing to do. Going out for sushi use to be looked at as gross or bland just because people didn’t know what it was. Raw fish was not attractive and eating it with seaweeds, rice and other vegetables that Americans don’t even eat was not welcoming. However, as time went on, people started to give sushi a fair chance and eventually grew to love it. These days, you can find sushi bars everywhere, and their business is booming whereas before you could hardly get anyone to sit down to a plate, but now it’s big business. Most people want to be considered cultural, trendy and smart. They will go by themselves or with a group of friends to a sushi bar and partake.
