I was invited to Florida some five or six years ago, by the first friend I ever met on here, in a Pogo room. lol.
Anyway, whilst I was deciding about going, I was also invited to Salem, Oregon, and plumped for that because I can't take the weather if it's too hot. So, I duly went off to Oregon, in October 2004, and spent four wonderful weeks there.
My friend in Florida is still nagging me to go, so I suppose I'm going to have to go one day. She keeps sending me lovely pics of sunsets across the bay, their yacht, and the uninhabited island out in the bay, where they often go, in the yacht, and have barbecues. Yup... she wants me to go so much that she even sent me a pic of her and her hubby enjoying a barbecue on this island. lol. They were tucking away great big, sumptuous prawns, lovely-looking salads, and what have you... the pics made me drool.
They live on Fort Walton Beach and the only thing between them and the beach, is the road they live on... they have to cross over. Fort Walton Beach is on the panhandle, and the north-east corner of the Bay of Mexico. The sand is white, the sea is turquoise and it all looks so wonderful that I'm sorely tempted. The only question is "Can I stand the heat? It's gonna put freckles on my freckles. lol.
I would think it's certainly worth going. My Mum went there several times... just kept going back and going back. Which part of Florida would you like to go, Gabs? I hope you'll make it, someday.

I've been twice and loved it. Went to Disney both times, Universal once, beach once. I'm from the midwest, so was the first time I'd seen the ocean!
I love Florida, but id does seem to rain there a lot. Who cares about getting wet though? If not for the hurricanes and tornadoes I'd be packing up to move there!

I would love to go to Florida and am waiting for a chance. It is such a pretty place and so many things to see. I haven't been to Disneyland yet and hope to go to Orlando. A friend stays in Tampa, so maybe I'll give her a visit too. Well so much for my to-do list, let's see when I'll go!! lol

I lived there. I just wrote about it in another one of your posts. It depends what you enjoy doing. Just don't go in the summer, as it is very humid and hot.
You have the theme parks, and they are awesome. Great beaches, dinner shows, boating,& fishing.

I LOVE all of Florida! I have been to Disney World and lived in Pensacola. I have friends all over the state so I have been to the southern part, the east coast, west coast and north parts.
I will go back there for my retirement God willing. I loved the people there, the beaches, the sunshine, the seafood, basically everything but the job situation. It is very hard to get a good paying job there unless you were transferred from another state. They can pay minimum wage to so many people they just don't bother paying much higher. I visit Florida about 4 times a year now. I am only 6 hours away and use to go every week-end, but gasoline got too expensive. To answer your question is it worth oh YES it is very much worth it!

Florida is a great place to visit. Just don't move here, trust me on that one. Before we moved here when I was a teen we did visit several times and I did enjoy it. The theme parks, the warm weather in the winter, etc However once you've moved here for awhile that warm weather becomes very hot, you find out that you can't afford to go to the theme parks, you can enjoy the beaches because you have to work...it's a great place for a vacation but that's about it.

I'm in NJ but have always loved Florida! It is such a beautiful state. I have been all over FL except for the panhandle, which I will one day. Five years ago with money my Grandmother left me, I purchased a house in Kissimmee, with plans to rent it our short-term until I move there. But due to the job situation, still stuck in NJ. Now with the Property Taxes, and Home Insurance so high, I am forced to sell my lovely home. I can not keep up with the money needed to keep the home. The Rentals have dropped due to saturation of the market, gas prices, etc. But I still love Florida and it is worth visiting. Disney is wonderful but there is more to FL than that! If you plan on a trip learn about the state and plan your trip wisely.

I'd like to go but only to see Disneyland. I've been to Euro Disney and that was great but I heard Disneyland is so much bigger.

i love going to florida. ive been to several places on the atlantic side. never on the gulf side though. i love disneyworld. if youre going to go there, plan the trip through the disney site. if money is an issue, you can plan well in advance, and pay in incriments so its not a huge amount all at once. and definately stay at a disney resort, it is well worth the extra money. and if you get a rental car, you should really make it to the coast. the ocean is gorgeous, the water is beautiful (not to mention really warm, at least in the summer) and the state itself is pretty. hope this helps

I think it depends on what part of Florida you're going to and why you're going - I love parts of Florida. Are planning to go on vacation or are you planning to move there? I love Key West and all the Florida Keys - they're beautiful and the people are friendly. But it's too expensive for me to move there so I just visit when I can.

I've been to St. Augustine, Orlando, Kissimmee, and Winter Haven in Florida. St. Augustine is terrific; it's the oldest city in America, founded in 1565, and has lots of wonderful historic attractions. Orlando is of course Disney headquarters (I highly recommend EPCOT'S "World Showcase" to see what life is like in other countries). Winter Haven is home to the beautiful park known as Cypress Gardens. Kissimmee, near Orlando, is mostly tourist shops and that kind of thing.

I lived in Florida for 20 years, in the Tampa Bay area. I moved away from there because I got so tired of it. Visiting there is ok. You'd enjoy it.. our beaches are beautiful.. the sand is pure white.
