I'm having problem with my children to finish up their homework. everyday they will wait for me to reach home to complete their homework. Sometimetimes after work we feel very tired to follow up with them. Recently my son's teacher rang me and said that he is not paying attention in the class. Do ypu have any idea how to improve on this ?

Alway try to teach the student in more interesting way.. the childs are fonds of stories. so teaching should be in form of intereting stories. however.. not all subject can be taught in stories.. so for that purpose use the toys, gifts and daily use items.. try different experiments. teaching through activity is an other best teaching option. I am working in a training institute we teach the teacher.. the teaching techniques.. a very interesting component of our training is" teaching through easily available material" called as TEAM, in this component we use common things like ... pepsi bottle..shoes boxes.. and many rough items. reward system also works but don't involve cash. because some time... cash reward makes the students more greedy.

It sounds like your son might be bored. Try to make it interesting for him. Make it hands on and make it apply to something he likes.

perhaps a "reward" program would help. maybe, a new book or a special lunch out with you on the weekend or a new toy for completing their homework BEFORE you get home would be incentive for them to do what they are supposed to do. only those that complete the homework get the reward. it doesn't necesserily have to be a monetary or physical reward. it could just be special time with one of the parents with no other siblings included. or a chance to pick the dvd to watch on family night. or picking the dessert you have after your evening meal. or helping to make the dessert! you pick the reward to offer based on the age of the child you are "rewarding." now, for the lack of attention. it could be many things. i had the same prob with one of mine. she was bored because she was advanced and needed more challenges than were being offered in the classroom. talk to the child and ask them what they think would be a good way to get them to pay closer attention. talk to the teacher. do this separately, then do it all together, sharing your findings, then come up with a compromise to meet everyone's needs. i hope i've been helpful.
