Tube fittings join pipes and tubing throughout a system. Choosing the ideal fitting connection reduces leakage, which can cause high operating expenditures and increased downtime. There are three main types of tube fittings: flare fittings, mechanical grip-type fittings, and bite-type tube fittings. The tube fits inside of the flared end, providing a deep seal. Special flaring tools are required for installation, but the fittings are available in a variety of materials. Mechanical grip-type fittings consist of a nut, the body and two ferrules. The back ferrule grips the tubing while pressing up against the front ferrule, which spring-loads the front ferrule and creates a seal between the tubing and the fitting body. Mechanical grip seals can be made and re-made multiple times without damaging the fitting components or the tubing. They are available in a variety of materials and are highly resistant to mechanical vibration. duplex steel flange supplies Bite-type fittings consist of a nut, the body and a ferrule with a sharp leading edge that "bites" into the skin of the tubing to produce a seal that can withstand high pressures. Bite-type fittings are available in single and twin-ferrule types. The latter is more reliable because the back ferrule grips the tubing while the front ferrule provides the seal.
