Is there a difference between the Chinese V-Day from V-Day in the United states?

It is a romantic day which from Chinese folktales .Niu Lang and Zhi Nu will meet on a bridge of magpies accross the Milky Way on every July 7th lunar which falls on August 2nd this year.
It is very popular in Chinese ancient.Unlike Valentine's Day in Western countries there is not so much emphasis on giving chocolates, flowers and kisses. Instead, Chinese girls prepared fruits, melons and incense as offerings to Zhi Nu, the weaving maiden, praying to acquire high skills in needlecraft, as well as hoping to find satisfactory husbands.
But now ,I think there're no those traditonal things alredy.I find it is also called Double-Seventh Day.
