Food that takes me back to my childhood

When I was little my momma and I would make what we called "peanut butter balls". I used to love cooking with her, it made me feel important somehow, like I had a purpose. Anyway, it is a simple recipe, and healthy too. You should try it with your children. You need:
- 1 cup of old fashioned oats
- 1 cup of dry, powdered milk
- 1/2 cup of peanut butter
- 1/2 cup of honey
Directions: Pour all the ingredients into a large mixing bowl and mix (I prefer using a wooden spoon) until well blended. Wash your hands! Then, pull chunks out of the bowl and roll into balls. You may add different things to fit your taste. Chocolate chips are a good example, try dark chocolate because it is healthier. You can add flax seeds, or just about any kind of seed or nut. You can add some blackstrap molasses for a little bit more sweetness, just be sure to add another sprinkle of oats so the consistency is right. Also, I've never tried them but I hear steel cut oats are healthier because more of the grain is intact. Another thing I've been told is that wild flower honey is supposed to be better for you, though I do not know why, but I have tried it and I must admit it tastes slightly better then the "honey bear" I always get. I hope you enjoy my recipe, and I truly believe that cooking with your children is an important activity that all will enjoy!

Hi @Sybelle, Similar with what you and your parents did, in my childhood, My parents would make traditional food in festival, I enjoyed these food very much, not only for the its taste but also for the procedure of cooking them with my parents. now, my kids are 10 and 8, I also would like cooking with them, I believe this can also generate the same kind of feeling I had several years ago. my kid will also benefit from it.
