How can I tame this head of hair I've got???????????????????????

I have tried everything I know to try and get my hair to stay smooth and straight! My hair is very thick and full of kinks, the only time I'm happy is when I leave the hairdressers. When I try to style it myself, it just does'nt work. Anyone got any ideas on how I can tame this mop?
