Eventually, the last stop for my excursion in Xiamen comes and it turns out to be the most attractive spot -- Kulangsu. Everytime I heard my friends talk about their journeys in Xiamen, Kulangsu was always an inevitable spot that they would elaborate on and sincerely recommend, expecially for girls. What's more, Gulangyu Island is generally considered as an ideal settlement for "literary youth", a popular network buzzword in China meaning a group of knowledgeable, young Chinese people who like to embrace an artistic and spiritual way of life. I arrived the Island by ferry, taking only 20 minutes at most. At first sight, when I reached one of the alleys, of those boutiques standing right on both sides selling various exquisitely crafted, new-fangled and adorable novelties, I began to get very excited and felt blessed to be in this shopping paradise. Honestly, I am awfully obsessed with novelties, those tiny but delicate items! Other than these lifestyle stores, food and beverage outlets are also available there, where provide agreeable resting-places for visitors once fatigue overtakes them. I also got myself a cake in a cafe shop to celebrate my birthday; yep, it happened to be on that day. Different from ordinary cafe shops, this one was suffused with a tinge of exotic flavour, not only meaning the food, but the amicable waitresses who were kind enough to sing a birthday song for me. That was really fantastic ! After satisfying my appetite, I went to a painting shop to have my portraiture taken but it turned out to be far from my expectation. A great pity indeed throughout this journey. The long afternoon came when my plans for shopping and gourmet food were done, so I decided to went to book cafe to spend time. That has long been my interest, just getting a book in hand, sitting somewhere with a cup of tea or coffee. Time elapses quickly very often while being absorbed in reading a book, and that's a way how I enjoy life. Of course, books were not the only reason why I stayed there so long, but for cats there! The shopkeeper adopts many adorable cats, ages ranging a lot. Just imaging how marvellous it is when you are reading a book a lovely cat springs on you, then nestling against you. That's much more enjoyable than I expected! And that's why I adopted MoMo in my graduate year. (You can see it in my second blog.) When night fell I bought the ferry ticket to return the Youth Hotel I lodged in Zeng Cuo'an. Amazingly, enjoying nightscape from ferry was totally different from that in daylight. Facing the ocean, I could feel wafts of air gently around my body, blewing through my hair. At that moment, peace and love filled my heart. I am still grateful for this journey today.
