It is difficult to tell how many Muslims we have in France, because religion is not asked in census since 1852 : as I said it is a lay country with no official religion. It is between 6 and 8% in France which is by the number of Muslims the 2d Muslim country in Europe after Turkey, because of Muslims who came from Algeria after the independence in 1962, but near 0 in Central and Northern Europe (Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, 0.9% in Ukraine...) for what I read, it is why I wrote 2%, a number that I got from several sources ; however Russia (11.7%) was probably not included. Wikipedia says there is 5% Muslims in Germany, and 4.6% in Britain. In France about 4000 people are converting to Islam every year (I don't know how many were Catholics), and 3000 to Catholicism, among them 300 Muslims, so it is far to become a Muslim country. And for the ease of conversion, is not it easier to recite the 10 words of the chahada to become a Muslim, than to spend a year or more to learn the catechism to become a Catholic ?
