It is indeed a set back for commercial space travel plan, when Virgin Galactic space craft crashed, killing one pilot and injuring another during a test run. However, this accident should not be considered as a reason to abandon the Commercial Space Tourism Program.
Space travel is a highly technical and full of risk. But the same argument applied, when commercial air travel took off in the previous century. Where the modern society would have been without the development of commercial Air travel.
In spite of such set back, the world community must continue to develop Commercial Space Travel to make it safe for future space journeys. Since world over the governments have to fight out poverty, health and other basic needs of it's people, they are not in a position to allocate sufficient funds towards ventures like Commercial Space Plan. It is here that private players should come forward in a big way. They should show greater interest in development of space technology. The need of the hour is to go down to the root cause of such mishap and eliminate the technical snags that may be.
There are people belonging to the opposite school of thoughts as well and they oppose such ventures. They would often air their views on the viability of such travels. Let us not forget that every scientific adventure came to us at a price.
