Jip...you are so right! It is for me living in SA one of the most interesting languages i can listen to!!! But to speak i think is a talent you must have for languages, isnt it? :-))

Each language has its own particular culture. Living in this culture would naturally speak this language, if you do not have this cultural context, it needs a lot of practice

@metalbee I am not Chinese, i am staying in South Africa! And is an Afrikaans speaking lady! Can you speak our Afrikaans language perhaps? :-)

I find Chinese a difficult language to learn mainly because, it relies on pronunciation as well, i.e if I say a word with slightly different sound it gives a totally different meaning. (This is what I've heard and read, I am not sure if its right or wrong)

yes,youare right.Chinese pronunciation of text have intonation points. Pinyin with a different tone, it has a completely different meaning
