If a financial planner tell you about a risk free investment, ask what he/she get for selling the product. Every advisor emphasize the advise for them to get maximum commission. So before approaching a financial advisor do your research, because instead of focusing on your needs they focus on their commission. And always remember whatever their gaining is what your losing. The fact that they focus on themselfs rather than helping you to minimise your investment risk while maximising returns is that they will never advise you about products their not gaining from their sales. Eg. Stock broker will emphasize that you buy shares even if he sees that rental property might be best for you and real estate agent may fool you into believing property market is risk free.
