Theological Theories of the Days of the Week

The question popped into my head today, 'Who sets the Sabbath (the one day out of seven that people are supposed to rest)?' Of course, it was quickly joined by the answer 'Everybody does, according to the day of the week they were born!' I then wondered if that means "seven different Gods (for the seven different days)." I.e. being born on a Thursday (Thor's Day), my Sabbath is Wednesday (Odin's Day) ... thus making the prophecy of an old school-mate of mine--that I have always been an Odinsman--come true. But (according to the linked "essay") Saturday, Sunday & Monday were not named for Gods, but -for 'heavenly bodies' (Saturn, the Sun & the Moon). Or did the essayist just not dig deep enough, and the heavenly bodies themselves were given their names from the names of Gods? (And yes, I'm capitalizing Gods because in this 'pantheon' each of the groups only worships one God---whether we think it's 'Our God out of the Seven' or 'One of the Seven Faces of the One God.) So what do you think?

Then all of Jesus's followers should have worshiped on a different day. We should have 7 different church services every week for people born on different days. What would that do in work place?. They have enough problems just giving people time off on Sunday where the store is open 7 days a week. We try so hard to come up with new ideas just to keep from obeying God's command and His example.

Hmm, there's a problem in giving EVERYBODY the SAME day off; how is giving 1-seventh of everybody a day off (while the other 6-sevenths work) any MORE of a problem? It seems to be a choice between 'everybody always working six days a week & NOBODY working the seventh day' or 'almost everybody ALWAYS WORKING'

@mythociate I can just see my principle giving me every Friday off even if it were my birth-date for the year.

Why should I rest on the day I was born? God established the day we are to worship then he illustrated it by keeping it himself.

It's 'the seventh day AFTER you were born.' He illustrated it by keeping it 'the seventh day after HE started,' so you're answering the question yourself (i.e. therefore we ought to rest on the seventh day after WE start).
