Hiring a real estate agent for the first time, tips?

We are planning to sell our house (3 BHK one level home in a 1800 sq. yard land) and move to Chicago within couple of months. We've decided on hiring real estate agent, Royal LePage Mississauga ( ), but since it's our first time we would like to know more on this process and also about the potholes that we should try avoid. Inputs are much appreciated.
