Hi hi, well, I would say the best knot for me would be the knotless knot, mostly used in fishing. But as Owlwings said, it would depend on use. Have a look here though, they have various knots and explains each ones purpose.

The 'best' knot depends on the purpose and on the material being tied. A 'good' knot holds but is easy to untie when necessary. Different materials may require a different knot. A knot which is suitable for rope or string may not be suitable for nylon fishing line or polypropylene rope. There are hundreds of different knots and each has its good and bad points.
