I am a fan of HP Pro series when it comes to laptops, but you will not have one for your budget. I would recommend to look at Lenovo on their G series : the G70 has a large 17" screen a 1 tb hdd, good graphic processors and Windows 8.1 for about $600/$650 and is quite robust (well, it is not a Getac).

you can easily purchase a very good gaming ready laptop from MSI form either a very good certified re seller an also ebay if it is a very good certified seller.
