PADI is the most common certification, and so I think most other organisations will recognize it.

I'm PADI certified with Advanced, Wreck, Night, and Nitrox. There are plenty of wrecks here in Nova Scotia Canada, but many are too deep for me.

Nice specialty courses; You know you can get Deep diver also; down to 40m. This is the maximum on air. If you need deeper for thos wrecks you'll need a tech course; I would suggest IANTD.

You should take a course; diving is fun and exciting. But also very dangerous if you don't know what you are doing; so, you do need training to dive.

I received a certificate but don't know what kind because it was a long time ago. I went to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and took scuba lessons and then went out into the bay and took pictures underwater as I dove into really beautiful and pristine waters.

Canada is probably nice for diving. Maybe somewhat like Norway? Wrecks are fun :) Did you do penetration as well? My certs are all from PADI. I'd like to get some IANTD and possibly GUE training as well (tech diving).

PADI is good, good course material. Allthough, I think the CMAS course might be a little bir better because the course is slightly more demanding. They also give a certification for 20 meters on their first level (one star). The first level of PADI gives certification to 18 meters.

I'm holding a SDI certificate, my dive instructor prefer me to hold this license instead of PADI because it is easier to learn over the traditional method. Which include manually calculating bottom time, ascent time, etc.

SSI - just open water for now but I hope to do more courses :) I learnt on holiday, and all courses here seem to be PADI :(
