I find a smile and a kind word makes these people feel really bad.

Ah, yes, I do, I do this all the time, even when I totally don't agree with someone, I'll politely smile and tell them they're wrong, they seem to not want to argue so much if I smile at them. :)

Sometime it confuses people and sometime it expresses feelings.

It can express feelings but if you appear to be smiling for no reason it can confuse.

Yes. There are a lot of miserable people around here, they'd surely be suspicious if someone was smiling! It's especially good if you are talking to someone who's being horrible, smiling will annoy them so much that they'll go away!
