I would completely recommend visiting this. I saw the hoover dam on my way there and was pretty unimpressed. I carried on toward the canyon thinking that it would be an oversized ditch. I couldn't have been more wrong.
When I first clapped eyes on the canyon, my mouth literally fell open. If anyone visits, they should definitely stay for sunset, which is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

Blackpool is great especially when they have the illuminations. Never been to the Pleasure Beach yet in Blackpool though, hoping to go one day. My dream holiday would be to Cuba, hoping to start saving and go in the next few years :-)

I would love to go to Christmas Island, if I were to go abroad, but there are several places here, which I love to visit and keep going back. I'm very fond of Somerset and Devon, especially Glastonbury and Wells in Somerset and Exmoor and Clovelly in Devon.
I also love to visit York and Whitby in North Yorkshire and there's a quaint little place between Malton and the North Yorkshire Moors, called Helmsley, which has all sorts of curio shops, a few old pubs and a market square. Whitby has it's lovely sandy stretch of beach, with caves and such, and its harbour and Dracula Legend, together with the Abbey, perched high on the cliff. Many times, I've climbed the steps to the Abbey, but now they've built a car park right beside it, accessible from out of town.
Stratford upon Avon is another place I keep going back to. I love the river and canal with all the swans and boats going up and down and I found a wonderful Thai Restaurant there, which I always visit when I return. The olde worlde buildings and Shakespeare's statue in the park, Ann Hathaway's cottage... ohhhhh, you can spend days on end there.
I get an attraction to Neolithic and Megalithic sites as well. Some of those I have to return to from time to time, but there's always another to discover. There's a kind of power in these places and I keep getting drawn back... even to the longbarrows. lol. I love caves and such... everything adventurous and old, I guess.
One place in Britain I have never been and would like to visit, is Kendal, in Cumbria, and perhaps some of the other villages up there.
Sheeeeesh... all this dreaming!:-)
Brightest Blessing Gabs.

Haha look at this discussion I just found it was started three years ago! I am wondering if you ever got to Blackpool since starting this discussion and cannot actually believe that up to the point of this discussion you had never actually been! I love Blackpool, it is just one of those places that everyone either loves or hates! I have not been since last year but no doubt I will go in the future again. I would love to go to Florida too, I went when I was fifteen but have not been since, oh well maybe one day!!

I last went to Blackpool about 15 years ago, it is good for a weekend but I would not like to take my kids. Shrek and his mates go about once a year and have a wild time.
Disney Land before my kids are too big would be ace but unlikely to happen.
I am going to Cornwall soon for a week just outside Newquay, I love it down there and would like to get the boys surfing.
But what I wuld really like to do is Stonehenge for the Solstice, every year we talk about it and then it doesn't happen, maybe when the boys are big and i can go off by myself...

Orlando Florida has Disney World, Epcot, and MGM. If you have not been there, it is awesome. Don't go in the summer though, it's too hot. They also have a number of western dinner shows, alligator shows, and aqua oceans.
There are many other places to visit in the USA, depending on what your enjoyments are. Care to share? Then I can help you out more.

I would love to see many places in the world. One is Hawaii. My grandmother always talked about going there and she wanted me to share the venture with her. Unfortunately this never happend. The other would be to visit Holland, which is my husband's homeland. There are many places in the USA that I would like to see. Hopefully one day this will happen.

Blackpool is certainly an 'interesting' aspiration Gabby! I went a few times in my teens (in the 90's) but haven't been for quite some time. I used to quite like it, but boy is it expensive. My mum took me for about 4 days once and we spent as much money as we would in a fortnight abroad.
I actually took my wife on a date there when we were courting (quite a feat, as it's about a 4 hour drive each way from where i live!)
It is worth spending maybe a couple of days there to see what it has to offer if you've never been though.
In terms of places i would like to go, I've been privileged enough to visit many of them as my wife works for an airline and gets some good discounts etc. We've visited some amazing places like barbados and the bahamas and spent a couple of weeks driving round West USA (California / Nevada etc) which was absolutely fantastic. I would like to visit Australia and see the great barrier reef. There are also a number of things that I would be too nervous to travel to because of political instabilities and crime rates. These are things like the pyramids etc in egypt, the carnival in Rio de Janiero, safari in Africa, red-square in russia, the abandoned Inca settlements in the south american rainforests, summer in Alaska, I could go on forever really.
Since the baby came along, we will be taking our holidays here in the UK for at least a couple of years and I think I'll really enjoy it.
I would certainly say that a holiday should be planned to see or do 'something'. In the past we have travelled halfway round the world to have a 'beach holiday' to relax together after a stressful time and it was a complete waste of time and money. We could have done the same thing in the canaries for quarter the cost and travelling time.

I wouldn't bother with Blackpool, it's usually full of drunks on stag and hen weekends.

I think you'll find things like that in most places! If you go during the week and in the day time, that will probably be ok.
