Lets break down cultural barriers with this thread, and ask questions about other people's cultures so we can all understand each other better.
As a brit, I'd like to know what a "Fraternity" is. Is it something to do with Universities in the US? I see it on American shows all the time, but want to know exactly what it is. What is it?
Also, who else as a question?

A fraternity is a "club" for men who go to the same school. You have to "pledge", (apply) and acceptance is determined by the members who have previously pledged and been accepted. (From previous years.) As for what this club actually does...they throw parties, organize social events, do charity work; there's no "real" mission statement or activity that defines the "work" of fraternities. A sorority (sp?) is the same thing, but for women.

So why the Welsh leak?
The important thing though is just to respect all of our differences. It's what makes the world interesting - and why I'd like to make sure that 'English' culture and customs don't disappear, as they could well do.
