Already managed to report a spammer

I don't know whether to be annoyed because they ignore the rules, or sad because they don't 'get' what myLot is all about, but within half an hour of getting back in here last night, I had to report a post. It was just a promo for an auction site - no value for anyone at all. Why can't people see that it's not just about money? myLot was the first place I earned money online - all $5 - $10 a month of it. However, what I got from there was beyond price - friendships that have lasted 8 years and counting, and learning how to write interesting internet content, so that I could make money elsewhere. These days, I write for a living, and it's all thanks to myLot. Why can't the spammers see what is on offer here? Or don't they care, as long as they drop their links? I think I just answered myself there!

Many of the 'spammers' are working to a list which says "Copy this piece of text and paste it in these websites/forums". They get paid for doing this (it's loosely called "Data Entry Work") and so don't care about rules (they may assume that because the company gives them the work and the list, everything is in order).and nor do they think of it as spamming. I try not to get emotional about spammers any more. It's a waste of energy, for one thing. I just report them and a few hours later (when GoAskAlice comes online), they disappear.

So we can equate spammers with peacock poop. Both make a mess. I have seen cars that peacocks have pooped on.

I am not here as much as I used to be. I will not hesitate to report any spammer I see, though. You are right, there is a lot more than money available here.

Good job! I think we should always be vigilant with those kind o fposts. Coz no matter how good a site is, there will always be people who would abuse it.

Yeah I think you answered your own question there But really they don't care about the rules, guidelines, or community There is a small percentage I'm sure that doesn't really care about the money that MyLot pays they just want buyers or referrals for their affiliate programs that they get paid for. Most Internet marketers know how to get traffic without having to spam but maybe these are just those ignorant souls that want a quick buck. I was hoping that they wouldn't make too much trouble for the staff but wishful thinking I guess.

We really cant prevent abusers, its like driving, if you are always following traffic rules 100% but there will be one person who is not, theres a chance that you will get involed on an accedent even though you are following the traffic rules, what we need to do on the spammers or policy breakers is to report them.

It is a great help for the site if reporting is done as and when violations are noticed. Good job there.

You are going to see some of that now. Mainly because it was okay to do that before MyLot changed back. So,I figure, over time, they will go away. Just keep reporting them and it will be fine.

I know when mylot closed and changed the first time... well it kind of all went to heck town with spam. I am wondering if some of the spam we are seeing is the members that joined after we all left? Either way I am glad to be back, but not so glad to see the spm start to pop up again.
