Do You Plan On Making Death Arrangements for Yourself Before You Die?

Many people want to make their own death arrangements so family won't have to do it while they are grieving. Others don't even want to face that they will someday leave this earth. Many younger people think they've got a lot more time to think about it, and other things seem much more important for now.
Some of us, though, know we are old enough to go any day. My husband and I are in that category. Getting our affairs in order is on our list. It's just that the everyday demands of life seem to take all our time. We need to update our wills and / or make a trust. We need to decide where we will be buried. Etc. I've already had to bury two children and make arrangements for them. It's a very hard thing, even with family support. I don't want either of us to have to do it for the other alone.
Have you started thinking about these things yet?

Yes, I even want to pick out my own box for my ashes. I like those solid wood ones with a forest Lazer cut that I saw earlier but can't seem to find now.

@bagarad. Yes, I plan to pick the urn (box) out, buy it and purchase the cemetery plot in the cemetery where I want to be buried!

@flpoolbum So you want to bury your ashes in stead of scattering them or letting your loved ones keep them on display in the box so that you are always near them?

Better let your likely survivors know. Do you plan to buy it ahead of time?

It sounds like you fear the end of life. I can understand why you would not want to dwell on that thought.

We have not done this and we should. I buried my first husband at 42. We also should have paperwork specifying durable power of attorney for health and finances and what kind of end of life care we would want. I always forget the term for that.

You are so right. Here we also need to get something similar to power of attorney at the banks. The banks wouldn't accept a durable power of attorney for my mom's banking.

I think each city or state has a way to deal with that. I think most are cremated.
