My toshiba laptop was having a problem on my keypad the number 2 would not work and my space bar was the same so I took it in to the computer guy and he said he would have to order a new keyboard, it should be in sometime this week. I never thought about the keyboards on a laptop before but they are not interchangeable with other brands of computers so it is a waiting game.

Just a quick thought, but have you tried cleaning your keyboard with a can of compressed air? I do this all the time for my customers and has on more then one occasion saved them from having to pay for a new keyboard and the labor to install it. I have also done this many times with my own laptops or with laptops I'm refurbishing for resale.
it is very possible there are tiny particles of god knows what stuck under your keyboard keys that are keeping them from working, the Canned compressed air just helps to blow them out of your keyboard. If you'd like more information let me know. Thanks!

I do that at least once a month. And it really does help. It's amazing how much grunge can get trapped around and under the keys.

@sparkofinsanity isn't it crazy, no matter how clean you think you are and the area your working in is somehow the dust and junk just settles in there, almost like there's a miniature dust bunny farm housed under the keys...

Fun, fun. I've not had laptop keyboards go out often, albeit more often than desktop keyboards. Don't know if this guy lets you hold on to your laptop until the part arrives but, if he does, you can always use a USB keyboard (wired or wireless), or a Bluetooth keyboard if your unit supports it. :)

If I was in your shoes I'd go mad! lol Eight years ago when I had to send my motherboard away I was off the Lot for so long some of my lotter friends got so worried they tracked my hubs down to find out if I was ok! How they did it, I have no idea....

I know nothing about that Marcy. I hate any computers laptops or otherwise as there seems to be always something wrong with them at least here there is.
They are so dang expensive too for me.
I hope they get it fixed for you.
My son has gone thru 2 but they were refurbished anyway and cheaper but i guess they had their day.
