We Need Rain!

Last year we experienced a severe drought but this year is much worse. It affects everyone from farmers to just people not having water to bathe - or just a limited supply. Now we have been informed that next year will be even drier than this year. Old wells have been resurrected and put into use and we are building an underground storage thingy to store water. Evidently dams are not the way to go because with climate change the rate of evaporation has increased. Personally, I am okay and if water is locked off I do have enough in a huge tank to last me about a week, but not everyone has this and they are suffering. Water is being trucked to different communities but it is not enough. I am finding it all scary and am praying for rain. We used to get rain in May and October but the May rains have yet to come. Time for me to get up and bathe - now I so appreciate that I am able to do so. It has made me realise that we just cannot survive without water

We in California are in desperate need of rain too! We did have one weekend of real rain last month - but certainly that wasn't enough to fix this drought. Ongoing rain would be more than nice - and I hope you all get it too!

@much2say You must must not be too far from me. We also had that rainstorm we needed so much a couple of weeks ago. A lot of my brown grass turned green again overnight. So many in other parts of the country have more rain than they can handle and we have almost none. It almost looks like rain could be coming again, but the humidity and the sky are probably teasing me. I'm in Paso Robles, on the Central Coast, about 30 miles inland.

@bagarad Ah, you are a bit north of us - we are in LA (in the San Fernando Valley). Yes, it's odd how everyone in the world needs to trade their weather - they have the rain they don't need, and we get virtually no rain. I hear we will be hit with severe storms this winter, but I read conflicting articles too - so I guess we don't "really" know until the time comes!
