They, the President and members of Congress, need to really feel the effects of government shut downs. The branch of government (Legislative=Congress or Executive=the President) that causes a shutdown should have their paychecks withheld. Hell, they shouldn't be withheld, they should be VOIDED, because purposely causing a goverment shutdown because they aren't getting what they want is outrageous and shows that they aren't their jobs!

Personally, I agree with what your saying, I would personally take it even further, first I think the House and senate should have term limits like the President, nobody should be in government for as long as many members of our Congress are. I personally feel that 30+ year stints Stymie progress and hold our country back.
I also think that we should go back to what our founding fathers intended, that was for public office to be public service not a career.

I totally agree. It will be extremely hard to get term limit laws for Congress to get passed because members of Congress don't want them. We would have to get a VAST majority of Americans to DEMAND a law for term limits. I doubt that will happen. However, we can try to get more people to support the movement to vote all incumbents out of office!

@flpoolbum That's true, I wonder if using petitions or something to that effect would in any way be useful in getting a ballot vote on setting term limits?
In the mean time though, your right a nationwide effort should be made to help push as many incumbent lawmakers out of office as possible.

@glasser3. Care2 is a great petition site. Let's check it out and see if they already have a petition going, if not, start one yourself and I'll sign it and publicize it.
