Nothing like a little old case of identity theft to make your day

Got home from my political meeting around 9:30, and signed on to check email. First thing that met my eyes was 4 emails from Kohls, "Thanks for your order Dawn". Yikes, 3 watches and a necklace to the tune of something like $300. Get on the phone and call. Of course, they had been closed over 2 hours at that point. Logged on and saw 4 orders, none of them shipped. Sent an email titled "identity fraud", listed the order nos, and said to cancel all four orders and make sure they don't ship, card must have been stolen. I changed my password, and will call them first thing in the morning. Ugh. Welcome home and good night.

Oh no!!! i seriously hope you wake up to good emails from them in the morning saying they canceled the orders and are looking into the breech! i had a couple emails a while back from a "pay per unit" cell phone comepany in england a few months back....it looked like they just had my email address off by a letter....(based on the info in the emails)....i was getting info for future bills....(never any charges to my account) but when i tried emailing them (support center) i got no response. i actually almost felt bad for the person who (may or may not) of been expecting to be charged....as they didn't know their bill was due....at least i hope that was the case (for me)......but i have been monitoring my accounts...no activity...and no emails from them lately.... just saying that is would have been nice to hear back from their customer service saying "whoops, our bad" or "sorry about that"....

I sure hope you get this taken care of fast and canceled..i had a similar problem of someone taking money out of my checking account while i was online watching it happen..The feds got involved and they took my laptop..i was afraid what the feds would do to it so i told them to keep it..hahah,,By the way..it said.."if this isn't you please call this 1800 number"..i did and they gave me my money back..but they called the feds since it was a federal offense.

There was a 5th order. 4 out of 5 shipped, but they called UPS and told them to return them. Cops went over to that address to check it outtoo.

Argh! I get so paranoid with this stuff. I hate getting those letters in the mail about systems being hacked as it is! Well I hope they take care of it for you asap - I'm assuming they did.

It is a good thing that you read the emails on time. I am often receiving fake bills at an email address with attachments including a virus. Since I received one supposed to come from my phone provider that I opened I am very careful with attachments. I use only PayPal or a disposable debit card to buy online, never a credit card.

@dawnald "Was your card stolen? That is a horrible thing to come home and then you sit down at the computer and that happens. I see now it is an old post so what happened? Did someone steal your card and did you have to cancel it and order a new one or was it a scam?
