One more con of whatsapp (not related to features) is that we often skip calling our close ones on special occasions thinking that we have already sent them a msg on whatsapp and that is enough, but I feel there is no substitute for a personal call. Whatsapp is good in terms of keeping us connected to our near and dear ones, but it can never match the amount of happiness you get when you hear the voice of someone you are close to.

I use Whatsapp more as most of my close friends are using Whatsapp. Nowadays almost all the social media apps are quite similar in their features so I am not really particular about which to use. However, Whatsapp is at a disadvantage without a video chat function at the moment.
