No matter what I do, I can't seem to lose weight! I take a couple medications which have weight gain as a side effect and it seems impossible to defeat it. I weight just under 200lbs now and I'm only 5ft 2inches - its really bad. I try to not eat junk food but sweets are like a magnet, when I am around them I just can't resist. I'm trying to follow a diet but it is hard when you are exposed to other food. It seems like everyone always wants to eat out. Tonight after church, people will be going out for snacks and I want to go hang out...but the food will be so tempting!
Anyone have any dieting tips?

I'm no diet expert because I've never really had a weight problem and never been on a diet in my life. But when I hit middle age and the spread started to happen I found that the best way to keep it under control was to walk every day. I'm also 5'2" and only weigh 15 lbs. more than I did when I graduated high school. Just before I remarried (10 years ago) I was put on a cholesterol medication that ballooned me up to 155 lbs. It also made me very sick to my stomach so I stopped taking it. It took me two years to get my weight back to normal.
So diet, or no diet, I blame the medications and that means being caught between a rock and a hard place....

Have you tried the Dukan diet? You don't have to eat less. You just consume a lot of protein and vegetables. I have just recently started and I don't eat as much as i did before with this diet.

I am having a lot of the same problems.. I am a couple pounds over 200 and i am only 5' 1"... I have a hypo thyroid.. which doesn't help. I really don't eat much.. but then again, I don't exercise much either.. I started using an app on my phone that is helping me keep track of my calorie intake. i do pretty good for the most part... I really don't eat many snacks.. an occasional ice cream maybe.
- I think I really need to exercise to jump start. I was doing good I had lost 13 pounds at one point then I put a few back on.. and now it just basically stays about the same. If you find any good tips out.. let me know.. lol

There is someone here I know who has this problem because of certain medicines she takes. If there is any way you can change those medicines I suppose that will solve your problem And for your craving for sweets that can be taken care of by doing regular exercises.

I am trying to keep at a good weight myself. I am 206 lbs but about 5 ft 10 inches and I work as a stock clerk so some of that is muscle. I've read a lot about apple cider vinegar (with the mother) and how taking a tsp of it with each meal can help curb appetite and increase metabolism. I've also heard about flax seed and how it is supposed to help with weight. Cutting out sodas helps a great deal as well as eating at all meals if at all possible.
Eating a sufficient lunch is supposed to help but then I think that is a case where it depends on the person's schedule really.
I allow myself to eat a sort of junky dinner but my lunch and breakfast are both sensible. For lunch I usually have grapes and yogurt and since "lunch" is at 2 am for me it's a good light meal to get me through the rest of my shift. Come morning I have something small but enough to tide me over until I wake up at 5 pm and eat "breakfast" which is my junkier meal.

I had never gained weight except for my 5 children, but when i hit menopause i started gaining and i felt helpless to it..it is harder as you age to lose, so try to keep a balance now while you are young to try at least to lose by walking everyday if you are able..one thing i love to do..

I feel you I am 4'10 and 200 pounds :/ :S :|. I was never this big I always been overweight but previously I was between 130-140. So in the past 9 years I've gained like 60 pounds. A couple years ago I counted my calories, ate better. And I did Zumba and walking and the exercise bike I saw some results. For no reason a week later after seeing results I gained most of what I lost back I was so mad that I gave up. I also have PCOS and according to my research woman with that may have a harder time losing weight but I haven't talked to my doctor about it yet.

Battling obesity can be a life long battle. I would suggest you cut down sugars but never skip meals and try to walk for at least 30 minutes daily. Good luck.

Don't try to resist your sweet tooth in the beginning, just regulate it. I can tell you this works from experience, because I have one too. And cheese, I love cheese. So when everyone around me is eating something sweet or cheesy or both, I don't say no. I just take a little, eat slowly, and talk a lot so that by the time the food is finished, I haven't overeaten, and I haven't had to resist urges.
The water drinking thing also works, especially if you have a glass 15 min before sitting down for lunch and dinner, because it reduces your appetite. But the best way to control your weight is exercise, and I know how hard it is to make up your mind and do it everyday, so I would suggest swimming. Its fun, it uses more muscles, you don't sweat, and you feel more refreshed afterwards.

I think you need to buy protein to decrease your weight.

I had 200 lbs, im 18 years old, and i get 50 lbs off my body just doing this.
Drink a lot of water, im no talking a lot, is the frequency i used to drink water the whole day, every hour, not drinking a lot but just having a glass of water and drink always, when is over i get another one.
i did this for like 3 or 4 months, and sometimes i didnt have the dinner because i just don't want to prepare it, and thats it.
try it
and remember eating moderate.
