Hello friends, I am going for a 10 days industrial training in NHPC (National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited, India) with my friends. Very excited to learn new things. Dam sites are very interesting to visit. I have visited another one last month in NEEPCO (North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited, India). Have anyone else ever visited a dam site?

I've been to the Hoover Dam in the U.S. and the Churchill Dam in Canada. Amazing places. I so envy you!

@phoonk Rather makes a person feel small in the grand scheme of things doesn't it?

@sparkofinsanity Yes, it really does. And I feel good in dam site because water is used to generate electricity instead of fuels like petroleum or coal. Did you visit them as tourists?

NHPC is a premier organisation. It is nice to hear that you have been chosen to go to such an important organisation for training. I hope you would enjoy visiting dams and you will get to learn a lot about NHPC functioning and electricity generation. Our best wishes are with you. I understand that you are an 'Engineering student'. Is not it? Students studying engineering are sent on Industrial training, as far as I know. I have seen Krishna Raja Sagara dam which is built on Kaveri river in Mysore. I visited the dam as a tourist, not as a trainee. If given the opportunity, I would love to see more dams.

@dpk262006 Thank you . No, I am actually a geology student. Geological study is very important before constructing in nature. Dam sites are really very interesting, right? I mean such huge constructions, just awesome.

@phoonk - Thanks for clarifying that you are a geology student. Your response added to my knowledge that geology students also undergo Industrial Training. Yes, you are very right, it is always a wonderful feeling to see a dam and water falling and gushing from the height and consequent generation of electricity. All the best for your training.
