Shopping with the girls, so much fun (not)

I took the twins back to school shopping. We looked at Sears and didn't find anything. Then we ate at the food court (Cary had TWO sandwiches) and checked out the shoe store. He got a pair of shoes and some socks, and since it was buy one get one half off, I got myself some sandals from the clearance rack and socks. We found Naomi some shoes a little way down at a store that has Converse. Then we followed her around JC Penney for at least an hour. She ended up getting shorts, a skirt, a sweater type thing and a backpack. But we were not done, as it was essential to get a top to go with the skirt. So we followed her around Macy's for another hour, and found "the top" as well as another one. She also wanted a strapless bra to go with "the top", but by then my feet were done, and the boy was getting seriously annoying (can we go yet?). So we left. They were so annoying on the way home that I was tempted to turn around and return everything, but my feet were not in the mood. Next time Cary says that when we go shopping, "NO girls"...

When I was at that age I let my grandmother do the picking out for me. When my grandmother no longer went and instead my grandfather was the one to go with me, well that's when I decided to pick my own clothes out.
Even now I hardly ever buy new clothes. I've needed a new pair of shoes for like three years now.

My little son is already saying "Can we go NOW?" - hee hee. I think girls just need more "schtuff" and are more particular about it. Plus girls seem to have more options - nearly all the stores are geared towards girls/woman schtuff. Aren't we lucky (except when we are having to shop with the kids for these things!).

@dawnald Gotta have that one new "outfit". It drove me crazy having my 70 year old sister live with me and always comment about my "outfits". Definitely sounded school girl.

You might want to consider going shopping at tag sales and such. You will find a great variety of clothing at very low prices. You might also want to check out flea markets as well.

Hi, I couldn't agree more that it can be trying shopping with young girls, By the way my daughter too is Naomi ! I hate shopping with kids ( but have no choice in the matter at times ) and others unless they leave you alone to do your own things rather than give their opinion on every purchase you make ..

Mine don't give me opinions on my purchases, they just whine about when we're leaving. :-)

This is why I like kids in compulsory school uniforms! All the same. Not hard to shop for school.Sounds horrible as I do not like shopping!

Typical English response, school uniforms bla bla bla
Just kidding, but it reminds me of my friend Carol's mom when I was in High School saying that we should have school uniforms.
We actually did do uniforms when the girls were in private school, but the uniform was just a polo shirt, and they could wear whatever pants or skirts they wanted with them (as long as they met standards).

@dawnald Also Jamaican. Most of the schools have the boys in khaki pants and shirts and their epaulette shows what school they attend. It does make it so much easier and also as they are all dressed the same it helps to get rid of classism between the haves and have-nots..

Kind of like the time I took Tony on a drive, and we ended up on a really windy dirt road...
