Do You Take a Day of Rest?

For me, Sunday is a day of rest. We call it a Sabbath rest, even though for many religions the Sabbath is on Saturday, the seventh day. Many Christians celebrate their Sabbath and worship on the first day of the week because it was the day Jesus rose from the dead.
I think God wanted us to be able to rest one day a week from our normal work, and that the Sabbath is a gift to us for that purpose. Jesus said that God made the Sabbath for man, not man for the Sabbath. Resting one day week helps us be ready to work with renewed energy the rest of the week, and it also gives us time to worship.
Do you take a day to rest each week? If so, what is your reason? If not, why not?

Well, every time I hear or read the word Sabbath, I automatically think of the band Black Sabbath. I guess it is inside me now. I don't believe in religion so I guess I have no day of rest. Well, I think we all have the weekend to rest anyway. But that's about it. I think you know that about me anyway.

Sometimes we need more rest than at others. People under a great deal of stress, for example, may need more rest than others.

I have been out of the habit of observing a Sabbath and day of rest. I let circumstances interfere. It is something I am planning for. I actually worked harder yesterday than I do on a regular day. It was different from what I usually do and I felt more rested and better about life in general.

I did enjoy a variety of worship services and experiences on the radio as I did my other stuff.

I Love Sunday. It's the only day I get to laze around in bed. I love the lazy vibe Sunday offers. Thinking about Monday on Sunday night gives me the blues though.

You need to rest from thinking about Monday until after sundown on Sunday.

We will have to agree that reasons on this differ. Many of my good friends observe the 7th day Sabbath. Many others observe their Sabbath on the first day to celebrate the resurrection. Jesus indicated that what's most important is that we worship God in spirit and in truth.

I keep what I call keeping sabbath, which is sprinkled through out the week, usually first thing each morning, except sometimes on the weekends, when I cook breakfast for hubby.. A whole day of rest when it comes along is awesome! And I agree it was made for man and not man for it, which I think some folks get confused about.

Normally we take one day of rest here at home. Sometimes we go to church and sometimes we don't. I do try to really relax and not do any housework or anything but sometimes it does not work out quite that way.

I think we all need to take it easy at least one day in a week...Since Sunday is a holiday, I too try and make sure that I get some free time to myself because I am busy during the week....I wake up late and do everything leisurely instead of hurrying through my morning routine . For me cooking something special for lunch also is relaxing because i can do it at my own pace on a Sunday...

I am scared of the word "rest" - maybe this scare is due to the long endless days of rest that I was subjected to when I fell ill in 2008. But today, I do need to keep myself engaged in something or the other for at least 20 hours. Since 2008, I am scared of the bed too. Horrible things keep me occupied if I think of rest.

For me reading is restful, or taking a photo walk, or just doing something different that usual. It might mean sleeping until I am ready to get up and feel rested. It means breaking the routine of the daily grind.

a day's rest in a week is advisable. some people work for 15 days without break. youngsters can do. elderly people cannot do the same. good day.

I do try but I always every darn day end up online working. Which isn't a big deal of course but I could use a vacation at this point.
