Do you have a hard time staying asleep?

i ask this question, because right now, I should be sleeping, but finding it hard to go back to sleep, after having to get up and get my dog water. Oh, I tried to go back to sleep, but it just won't come, so I decided to come in here and do some posting to see if I will get tired enough to go back to sleep, as morning will be coming in a few hours, and I am not even tired. Maybe because I am older, that I can't sleep to well, but all I know is, it is very frustrating. I end up falling asleep during the day when I should be wide awake. I guess you could say, that I get my days and night mixed up. LOL everyone, take care, and have fun mylotting.

I am the opposite. While I can stay up easily, I also fall asleep in a snap. I generally don't have trouble shutting down even if my mind is still busy. I'm told that's a blessing. :D

It certainly is. i wish that I didn't fall asleep in the daytime, so I could stay asleep at night. I don't have a hard time getting to sleep, itis just that I can't stay asleep. So frustrating. Thank you for responding, and happy mylotting.

I have the same problem. I have a very hard time getting to sleep. My body can be majorly tired and I will fall asleep in a chair but when I go lay down its like something goes off in my head and I cannot turn my thoughts off. When I finally do fall asleep if something wakes me up I find it just as hard to go back to sleep as I did to start with.

@rosekiss Dogs are just like children. My kids wake me up at night too. They are 5 and twins that are 3 but the twins don't sleep well at night. When they wake up they tend to get into trouble. Fortunately, I am a light sleeper and hear them most of the time.

@Shellyann36 I hear you there, as when my kids were little, I didn't sleep to well either, as I wanted to keep my ears open in case they would wake up. Now, theyare married and have kids of their own.

I have the same problem. It is so frustrating to fall asleep in the chair, and by the time I let the dogs out, brush my teeth and get ready for be, I am not sleepy anymore. I just lay there, and try as i might, I just can't fall back to sleep right away. When i do get to sleep finally, then one of the dogs wants out, and it starts all over again. i try to stay away before time for bed, but my eyes get so weary that I just zone out and fall asleep. Thank you for responding and have a great day.

Normally, I do not have a difficult time going to sleep or staying asleep, but I find during the summer that I have a much more difficult time not only going to sleep but also staying there once I finally manage to doze off. I think it is the fact that it is light later and the sun comes up earlier, so my body thinks that I should be awake regardless of what time it is. In the winter, though, I tend to want to sleep more, so I guess that it all evens out in the end.

I have the same problem in the summer. It gets very hot in the daytime, and since it stays daylight longer, it doesn't cool down very early, so that is another reason i can't sleep. I try everything, even a fan, and that doesn't work all that much either. once it does cool down, i am able to sleep, but then it isn't long and I am getting up for the day. i just hope that in the winter, i get more sleep, as i am getting tired of sleeping in the daytime, as I want to stay awake. Very frustrating. Thank you for responding, and have a fun time and a great day.

@rosekiss Oh yeah, the heat is another thing. It is so weird, because at night there are times I can't sleep, because I am too hot and uncomfortable. In the daytime when it is even hotter, though, sometimes my eyes become heavy, I feel like I have no energy, and I find myself wanting to doze off from the heat.

I am not much of a sleeper. If I get 5 hours a night, I am lucky. Once my eyes pop open, I am up. No matter what. And no matter what time I go to be at night (usually between 12:00-2:00 am) I am up between 5:30 and 6:30 the next morning. If I sleep past then, I feel like my day is wasted.

I wish I could sleep better too, as I end up falling asleep during the daylight hours, and that is the time I want to stay awake I have actually fallen asleep while posting in here. I doze off so easily, and it is very furstrating. I try to sleep by 10pm, as I get up between 6-6:30 each morning. I am wide awake right now, and I hope it stays that way until I go to bed. Thank you for your response, and take care.

@rosekiss Oh now that can be a problem. I do lay down each afternoon, simply just to rest. I end up reading though. Well, I hope it works out for you. Thanks, same to you.

When I was younger, I would wake up almost every hour. I was always "jumpy"...even in my sleep. Sometimes I think it was because I was constantly worrying about my Grandparents. Then I got older....and I do sleep a lot better now...and my doc has me on meds just in case I don't. But my ears, my sense of hearing is SO SHARP...I can hear any little thing. Now, the only thing that wakes me up is noise, and it doesn't have to be a loud noise. Any noise. And I can't wear earplugs, because they make me dizzy the next day. I know, problem after problem.. P.S. Posting on myLot is a GREAT way of helping yourself get sleepy again. I don't mean that it's boring, I just mean myLot involves a lot of reading, and that always makes you eventually tired.

Yep, it sure does, as I am sleepy right now posting this. Short of slapping myself to wake up, I will just have to try to stay awake as much as I can. I am not sure if my age has anything to do with it, but I am sure getting tired of sleeping in the daytime, and not sleeping at night. I can hope against hope, that it all changes one of these days.Thank you for your response, and take care.

I have an enlarged prostate so I can never sleep more than three or four hours before waking up to go to the toilet. Surprisingly, I have never napped during the day.

I am sorry about your condition, but it sounds like you are doing better than me, that you don't nap during the day. I hate when that happens and it happens way to much. I think it is my age, so i just have to deal with it, but I still don't like it. Thank you for responding, and have a great day.

I have a hard time, if I get woke up for any reason. On the other hand I took a nap that I could not wake up from this afternoon. It is frustrating.

It seems in my case, that I don't have a hard time going to sleep, it is once i get to sleep, to stay there until i am ready to get up. I just toss and turn when i can't sleep. The worst part of it, is i fall asleep during the daylight hours when I want to stay awake. That is very frustrating, but it happens more than not. i guess it comes with age LOL. thank you for responding, and have a great day.

I don't feel so bad now, as you have the same problem as me. I will more than likely end up falling asleep sometime during the daylight hours as i usually do, when I haven't slept to well the night before. "the worst thing is when I am doing something or watching something on tv or netflix, and i fall asleep, and miss it. That is so frustarating too, but I have to deal with it, as it comes from old age, I guess LOL. Thank you for responding, and have a great day.

I don't know why it is so hard to get to sleep at times, unless I am just not all that tired. It would help if I didn't sleep in the daytime. Thank you for responding, and take care.

I do have a hare time getting to sleep at times, but not all the time. Once i get to sleep, it is staying asleep that causes it all. i just wish I didn't fall asleep during the daytime, so that way i would be tired enough at night to stay asleep. One can only hope. Thank you for responding and have a great day.
