Hello friends!
Every city is famous for its street food. New Delhi is also one the best destinations for street food. You could find small kiosks and food carts lined across the roads of Delhi in many shopping arcades. Delhites love to eat street food whether it is morning, afternoon, evening or night. People could be seen around food carts venders enjoying Chooley-Bhaturey (Here the item Chooley stands for spicy curry made with white chickpeas and Bhaturey is fried leavened bread and both are eaten together). Pani Puri (It is small round hollow balls, which are fried crisp and then filled with a mixture of flavoured water and stuffed with boiled potatoes and are small enough to fit completely into one's mouth), and local ice cream called ‘Kulfi’. Many could be seen gulping noodles, egg omelettes etc. and non-vegetarian items like roasted chicken of fried fish on the food stalls. Is your place/city famous for street food, and do you enjoy eating street food when you go outside?

It means you wish to play safe and for health reasons you do not go and enjoy street food. I think, it would be available though at your place. Is not it? What kind of street food is famous at your place?
Thanks for joining.

@Katriona_22 - Very true that home cooked food is always better than food available in the market. We never know how hygienically they prepare it. But once in a while, it is okay to consume street food.

I missed to mention 'chaat', which is favorite of all in most of the cities. Here in Delhi, you can have street food almost every nook and corner of famous streets and those streets vendors are always busy serving food. Some of them sell cheaper food, therefore they get more customers. Yes, you are right that during festival season like Diwali and Navratri many food stall come up, besides regular stall.

Filipinos love to eat and love to eat street foods. We have a lot of different kinds of foods sold along the street, at the market place, school gates. But we still have to take a lot of extra care with the foods we eat, especially if it is sold in the streets.

@dpk262006 Sorry about that. One popular street foods we have here is fishball. I don't know how it is made but you can buy it from the street vendors with portable kitchen. They have this cart where they put their stuff, stove, etc. They put fishball on stick and you can have it dipped in a sweet and sour sauce, or spicy sauce.
There are other lots of popular street foods here like, dimsum (siomai), kwek-kwek (quail egg breaded with orange-colored flour), grilled chicken parts like feet, heads, intestines and even chicken blood. Too many others also available, depending on the time of the day.

Indonesia also well known for its street food
we have Gado-gado ( vegetables with nut sauce, taste spicy), siomay ( similar with dimsum but with nut sauce too) and so on
since I got typhus, I only eat in supermarket or fast food restaurant because I am afraid of getting sick again because of salmonella
hygienic is my priority too

I am not a fan of curry at all. I fixed shrimp curry once years ago for my hubby and I hated it. I love the street food they have here. A chorizo in hot dog form with sour kraut, mustard and catsup. I don't even like hotdogs but I love the basque chorizos. And the street venders let them cook and so I know they are done. Yum! And there is a mobile taco truck that has the best tacos. Like they used to have at the fair. OMG!

Hello there!
Freshly prepared Hot dog with delectable chorizo could be awesome with mustard and Ketchup. I understand that you enjoy hot dogs if it is has chorizo stuffed in it. Of course street vendors cook/prepare everything in a style and sometimes it is fun to eat on streets. I searched about tacos (I did not know much about it) and I found that it a Mexican dish consisting of a folded or rolled tortilla filled with various mixtures, such as seasoned mince, chicken, or beans. Its images tell that it would be a yummy dish to enjoy.

@dpk262006 --No, chorizo is a type of Basque sausage. Very tasty and not real spicy. Love them! My favorite Mexican food is enchiladas. Yum! And I like the corn tortillas, not the flour.

Hello Jaishankar - It is interesting to hear that you love street food and you like to enjoy samosas very much. I think, if we are eating fresh prepared samosas then it is okay. Thanks for joining us.
For those mylotters who have no idea about Indian delicacy samosa I may like to add here that a samosa is a deep fried patties with a savory filling, as boiled potatoes, peas and sometimes with minced meat (lamb, beef or chicken).

I love street food though I do not have it very often for health reasons. And the chaat items you have mentioned are also famous here and irresistible. Having it on the streets is more fun than having it at home. And the taste of home made chaat is somehow not the same.

Hello dear.
Health concerns are understandable. Many a times due to hygiene factors, we remain apprehensive to enjoy street food. I know Mumbai is famous of it 'Bhel Puri' and Pani Puri.
I fully agree with you that fun of eating street food on a food cart is more than enjoying it at home.. It is also correct that home made chaat may not feel so tasty as we get in the market.

We have Market Day which happens once a month during the Spring and Fall. The local artists, farmers etc come to sell things. They sell foods, but we went there once and there wasn't much in the way of street food except maybe hot dogs and warm soda. They do have plenty of honey, jams and produce to sell. Everything is over priced however.
We'd have to go to Atlanta or somewhere more city like I guess, to not be disappointed.

@cupkitties - It means that you did not get much opportunity to enjoy street food or rather lack of its availability. Selling products at higher price does not attract customers, I can understand. Hot dogs could have been tried, if possible, when you were there.
Thanks for joining and sharing.
Hope you are doing fine.

Once upon a time i was enjoying street foods like paani poori, cane juice, kulfi, bhel, chilli pakode and other such things, But now me or none of my family members are showing any interest as now a days lot of pollution and dust on the road side due to heavy traffic and the vendors are not bothered to cover their wares except a few .

hello deepak
We should not get tempted by the hot stuff also. because when me and my friend were passing by a bakery on our way to a novelty shop , nice samosa smell was coming and my friend said they will alway buy samosas from this bakery only because it is so tasty. so i too bought a couple of hot samosas and the smell was really tempting . After reaching home me and my son tasted it a bit but though the samosas were hot, the potato stuffing inside was spoiled and badly smelling, then i came to understand that he is selling the old stuff also along with the new by reheating it . Since then we stopped buying from him

Well there are some eat out shops that make street food in the sense that you could eat it out if you really wanted it. But I usually prefer to take this in a takeaway regime where I get Greek or Italian food at home and eat it with the wife while watching some telly or movies.
