There's no place like home

I know some of you have seen my dificulties in moving in the UK from a student accomodation to a private landlord through a rental agency. They changed my date and are kind of forcing me to accept it, and there is a risk they will change it again for another 2 days and make me stay in a hotel. If I withdraw I will loose 300 pounds. In the meantime I have traveled to my home country to my childhood home (my mum and dad's place) and I am so happy to be here and see my parents and enjoy the place where I grew up again! I have lived here for 25 years and I was happy, but I had to go looking for my future somewhere where I wouldn't be a burden for my parents for the rest of my life. I have never felt trully at home in the student accomodation but I will be moving to a new home with 2 rooms (+ living roomg) and I will be allowed to hang paintings in the house, decorate with curtains and beddings all the little things that make you feel like home!. When was the last time you've been to your origins home ? What is home for you ?

Yeah, still with my parents. I think I want to live on my own eventually though.

How wonderful that you were able to return to your homeland, visit your parents and go to the familiar places of your youth, @elitess. Have you moved into your new home yet? Yes, it is decorating and having our familiar belongings around us that turns a house into a home. I was born in Sydney, Australia and returned there just last month to visit my eldest son who currently lives there. It was lovely to go to places I remember and also to have him take me places I had never been. Since they say "Home is where the heart is", I consider Ballina to be home since 2 of my sons live here and the one in Sydney is moving back here in the new year. It will be wonderful to have all 3 sons nearby again.

I did not have any idea that you have studied in UK as a student and faced difficulties in getting accommodation. Hopefully, you get a good accommodation now and you will be able to live peacefully. Our best wishes are with you. It is good to hear that you could visit your parents and you want to be independent. As far as I am concerned, I did not study at a different city, other than my home State. I was born and brought up in New Delhi. I studied here and later got a job. My son has been studying in a different city, so I can well understand your situation.

I have not lived at the house I grew up in with my parents for 30 years. I consider the home and town I live in now with my husband as my home. I have lived here longer than any other place.

Right now I still live in the house I grew up in. It's time for a change though, if we can find the right place to move to.
