What kind of dreams do you have?

Sleep is your mind working on the days issues and consolidating them. Dream is passive critical thinking, say psychologists. It is when your mind puts the pieces of the puzzle which plagues you during your waking hours together, they suggest.
Because of the illogical nature of dreams and its highly visual content the mind is able to come up with, "out-of-the-box" solutions to our daily problems. It is a different kind of thinking they say.
To me dreams have been mostly illogical and meaningless so much so that I don't even remember them when I wake up. However there are times when they are almost clear and prophetic in nature.
I have had recurring dreams for long periods of time, I don't remember having nightmares or even coherent dreams any time.
What kind of dreams do you have? Do your enjoy your dreams? Are you able to recount them accurately the next morning?

one of the most stupid dream i can remember few days back , is that i was awarded with ownership of a bridge for INR 25( $ .04). That bridge is one of the most significant structure of city kolkata and perhaps 3 rd largest cantilever bridge of world. When i woke up , i couldnt stop my laughing because if i own that bridge for say, one week i would be one of richest man under the sun :P ;). I checked my wallet afterwards, it find out only $4 in it .

@sofssu No, I've had a few dreams about my characters that I've created, and once about Superman, but Superman and this dream weren't in the comic book style, they were all real looking. I don't even know why I dreamed about the Phantom Stranger, I haven't read any comics lately or even thought about him. Of course, when I got up I had to go look up the wiki page...

@ElicBxn wow superrnan and phantom looking real in your dreams and you haven't even read those books lately.. How deeply ingrained your comic book reading experiences must have been.. I am sure you really enjoyed them and visualized them as you read them in your younger years.

most nightmares are remembered, it is normal and natural, because it is something very scary (that's why they are nightmares) ... anyway, I always would love to remember my dreams. dreams are pleasant time when our subconscious mind wanders. sometimes I remember my dreams most often times not. Sometimes I even wake up giggling and laughing (just like a baby).

@Mavic123456 Fear is a very strong emotion and dreams/nightmare that evoke may remain vivid in your memory for years. While we may forget pleasant or normal dreams without high emotional content. Glad you have funny dreams too. Do you remember them vividly?

I have varying kinds of dreams. Here lately it seems that the person that has been popping up in my dreams is an ex. I usually have dreams about family, about the country (as in rural areas), and about work. When I dream about work it usually means that it will be a sort of tough night of it.

@sofssu I work at night and sleep during the day. I tend to dream about work before I go in, hardly ever on a day I have off. I've had dreams where work will be bad, or a co-worerk won't be there and generally speaking my dreams are usually spot on.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Premonitions / warning/ prophetic dreams are mystical but true.. I have had some foreboding dreams that have been spot on.. But they scare me.. luckily they are few and far between

I agree with you that some of the dreams are not logical at all but I also had a few that made sense.

@Cristi_Ichim how is it balanced - do you have more illogical dreams or logical ones?

@sofssu I think that 60% of them are illogical and the rest are somewhat logical

Lately I am remembering my dreams but they are really strange. I have had dreams that told me what to do and were accurate though.

I had a really weird one last night. I recently got back in email contact with an old roommate from college. I dreamed I was going to meet her in her office (although she is retired now and doesn't have one anymore). When I went into her office, only the top half of her body was there -- from the waist up. Yet her top half was behaving as if this was normal. I don't remember much more of it than that, but I'm still trying to figure it out.

@sofssu I had answered an email from her, caught her up on what's happened in the last fifty years, confessed I'd told stories online about our college days and gave her some links to things I've written where I mentioned her (without a last name). I hadn't heard anything back from her and I was wondering if she's mad at me, even though everything I said was true and I had said good things about her. I did reveal something she may not want the world to know, but everyone that would have associated what I said with her (again, her last name was never revealed) was either there and saw it themselves or would not have give it a thought now. Only a few people would be able to put enough details together in their minds to know I was even talking about her.

I do not remember most of my dreams upon waking up. It has been a long time that I dream. I hope if I do, its going to be nice

@sofssu yea I'm done with the murder dreams.. but I still dream of food. You know my daughter does it too. She says 'tasty' in sleep ?? on a Serious note, one of the best dreams I've ever had is that I was getting married to my church friend on whom I had a crush . I woke up feeling silly coz I didn t know he loved me or not . But the great thing is 5 months after the dream episode, we got married?

Oddly enough, mine always seem to be about getting lost. I'm sure that there is a message in there somewhere for me.

I have the strangest dreams and can always remember them in detail. There is one dream that I have had several times for as long as i can remember, its like once a year i have this dream and it continues on from where i remember it ending the year before. the same setting, characters, emotions, goal.. absolutely everything is the same and i love having the dream. I've asked my partner how strong he feels his emotions in his dreams and he said that once he wakes up that's it, its all over and he just doesn't care anymore. I however have the strongest emotions when i dream, for example: when i dream that I'm pregnant i have this new feeling of love that i have never felt before and when I wake up I can still feel how happy and in love and protective I was. I love love love dreaming !!!!

@amysdimonds Wow! this sounds so interesting... emotional dreams, so how far has this dream progressed? Sounds like a lovely plot for a novel to me. I used to have recurring dreams of meeting my father after he passed on. I always ended up feeling so guilty or sad afterwards.. I was twelve then.. it was resolved a few years later I guess.

I do not have dreams often. However, when I do dream, they are astonishingly vivid. I do remember the strange accounts in my dreams when I wake up. As for recurring dreams, they could be connected to an incident in the past.
