Are You A Shopholic?

United States

I know some people who just love to shop. No matter what it is. They hear 'sale' and they make a mad dash out to the store, even if they don't need what is on sale. Me I absolutely hate shopping. I would prefer a root canal over shopping. At least they can knock me out and give me pain pills (even though I wouldn't take them) afterwards. Are you a shopholic? What do you love shopping for?

Oh, I hate shopping with a passion. When I need something I run into the store and try to get out as fast as I can, I even hate having to try something on - Grrrr! I know some friends who love to shop - even men but I just don't see the pleasure in it.

@howard96h I am all for it. But with my luck, they would probably rip me off, then I would have to do the shopping after all.

That makes two of us. Oh I am so with you on trying on things. I think clothes shopping is the one I hate the absolutely most. If I wasn't so conservative with my money, I would seriously hire someone to do the shopping for me.

Ever since I got into online shopping which involves just a few steps to get my stuff and that is to walk from my computer to the gate I am kind of addicted and keep thinking of things to buy

Oh wow. Now see that can drain a bank account quite quickly. But I guess the plus to it, is it does avoid the hordes of people in actual stores. LOL

I like to shop if I have the money. most times I have to watch what i spend. So, I don't go shopping unless it is really needed.

@TexanTornado Window shop. Something my mom would take us girls to do. Basically dream about what we want but get us out of the house at the same time.

@rusty2rusty Ah yes, you have very good point. However, I found doing that with my kids to be a very big mistake. Basically it was a tease, and I myself was never very fond of it.

That is understandable. Why shop if you don't have the funds to cover it.

Once a month isn't that bad. I could handle that. Sounds to me like you more of a browser, than a shopper.

You know me, I hate shopping. I only buy what I need most. I almost always never shop except online. I find the best deals and go for them. I love to save for the future and my kids.

LOL I don't even like shopping online. Actually in some cases it's worse cause you finally find the cutest top or sundress after hours of looking and you get it, and it's nothing like what you saw online. I am a saver too.. Ms. Penny Pincher.

@sofssu Ah yes, that is very wise my friend. I know for me, it given enough time, I can talk myself out of many things. That is if I don't tell hubby about it. If I do, then he will buy it, and say, 'I knew you wouldn't buy it for yourself!"

@TexanTornado nope not for me.. I only buy what I need .. I may put somethings on my wishlist but I invariably never buy it on reconsideration.

I only shop when I need things and even then, I grudgingly do it. I joked with my hubby that I should hire someone to do it for me.

I love shopping, but i try and only buy what I need and not what i want, and that is so hard, as there are lots of things that i want, but just can't afford. Now, pretty much, I just stay home and not shop, that way, i won't spend money, that I don't have. It is much safer that way. Take care, and have a great day.

@rosekiss So many people love shopping, I just never found the thrill about it. It does sound like you have a very logical approach to it though. You can't waste money if you aren't out spending it. Unless you start, what most have done, and that is shop online.

I do enjoy shopping but we are working tward getting out of debt and trying my best not to accumulate any unnecessary debt. I can shop alot if I needed to but as I said between getting out of debt and not really needing to buy anything in particular other than to own it (wich inturn takes away money from something else and space in the house). However, my true weakness is rummage sales.

Hopefully it wasn't your addiction to shopping in which got ya'll into debt. I only shop when I absolutely need to, and even then it's like pulling teeth. Oh I can understand rummage sale, I used to enjoy going to 'flea markets', when there was hardly no one there, and looking at all the treasures.

Oh yes, school clothes shopping. I have to say I don't miss that at all. Things tend to get a bit more cray when everyone is out doing that. Oh I hate grocery shopping too, especially when people decide to mill around in the middle of the aisles.

I love to shop (especially when there's a sale), but I'm not a shopaholic. I know when to buy and when to not buy. The most important thing for me is to stick to my budget and make sure I have enough money to get through the month.

You seem to be a very logical person, and well aware of your boundaries. That is absolutely great.
