Buying School Supplies

Today a local store called Shopko was having a special sale on school supplies like pencils, glue, notebooks, scissors and items like that. A friend and I went there and we both bought a number of school items even though our children are grown we want to give back to the community.
We feel there are probably some families in town who can't afford to buy their children school supplies, we just want to do what we can as we have been there there also.

There is no store like that in my area. I have some school shopping to do yet. Plus, to pay $50 for each child to use a school Ipad. The $50 is the insurance in case it gets broke.

@Marcyaz Oh that is very convenient Marcy. I have seen those in other stores around in the past. I wish I could afford to give a lot all the time.)

What a great idea! When I was raising my boys with no support from my ex-husband, I would have to use my birthday money (birthday's at the end of August) every year to buy school supplies for my boys.

It really is an awesome way to give back to the community. I've been doing similar things with the sales that OfficeMax and Staples are having this year, especially when the sales are on things that I know the school needs. I buy the maximum allowed regardless of whether we need them or not, then donate anything that's extra.
I really scored this week when I found two huge rolls of posterboard on the clearance table at the grocery store. It was less than a dollar for both, but there's something like 50 sheets of posterboard there. I have no idea why they were that cheap, but I figured they might be something the kindergarten class can use. If not, I'm sure my toddler's school will be able to find something to do with all of it.
